According to the “Huangyan Island Coral Reef Ecological Survey Report” released by the South China Sea Ecological Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Science and Technology Innovation Platform on December 29, the average coverage rate of reef-building corals within the Huangyan Island National Nature Reserve is as high as 38.8%. There are 13 reef-building coral families, 36 genera, and 135 species. The overall state of the Huangyan Island coral reef ecosystem is good.
