According to CCTV International Times, citing US media reports, on the afternoon of December 27 local time, a gas pipeline explosion and leak occurred in the Carsteck area of California, USA. Local residents said they “heard a huge explosion” and reported “smelling a strong smell.” Nearly 20,000 residents in the relevant regions have been issued local evacuation orders, and have also been asked to close doors, windows, vents, and air conditioning systems. Passing through the local Highway No. 5 was once closed for nearly 4 hours, and there was a long line of cars several kilometers long. It is still unclear why this gas pipeline, known as the “main gas pipeline,” burst. According to the Los Angeles County Police to the media, the accident “may have been caused by a landslide.” Allegedly, local households or businesses will not be affected. There are no reports of casualties to date. The Los Angeles County Police have dispatched an arson and explosives investigation team and dangerous goods disposal team to the scene to assist in disposal.
