Zhitong Finance App learned that according to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on December 26, the national standard “Electric Vehicle Energy Consumption Limits Part 1: Passenger Cars” (GB 36980.1-2025) will be implemented from January 1, 2026. This standard is the world's first mandatory electricity consumption limit standard for electric vehicles. The standard comprehensively considers the current state of electricity consumption of pure electric passenger vehicles, energy saving technology potential, cost control, electricity consumption performance of special models, etc., proposes electricity consumption limits for different vehicle weights, is about 11% stricter than the recommended standard in the previous edition, and proposes appropriate index requirements based on differences in model electricity consumption with different usage characteristics and different technical characteristics, effectively taking into account the diversified development needs of models and providing guidance for subsequent development and application of energy-saving technology.
