Documents show that the Trump administration is considering allocating nearly 800 acres of land in a federal wildlife refuge in Texas to Elon Musk's rocket and satellite manufacturer, Space Exploration Technology. The company plans to use this land to expand its rocket launch and production site in Cameron County, Texas. The documents also show that in exchange, Space Exploration Technology will hand over hundreds of acres of its own land to the government, some of which are about 20 miles from the wildlife sanctuary. This previously undisclosed land replacement proposal has raised concerns among some natural resources conservationists and archaeologists. They fear that space exploration technology companies' related developments could damage this area — not only a habitat for many endangered species, but also historic remains of America's Civil War battlefields.
