On December 22, local time, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Hill read out a communiqué signed by President Nicolas Maduro via live television. According to the communiqué, the long-term imposition of unilateral sanctions by the United States against Venezuela is hurting the entire region and violating international law. Recently, the United States launched 28 armed operations in the Caribbean, resulting in 104 deaths. As a result of the US blockade, 4 million barrels of Venezuelan crude oil could not be transported normally. Hill pointed out that the US blockade was an “act of piracy,” which not only caused damage to Venezuela, but also brought “disastrous consequences” to regional and even world peace and normal trade exchanges. Venezuela demands that the US immediately stop related actions and reaffirm its position of safeguarding world peace and stability and multilateralism.
