07:03 AM EST, 12/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission concluded that the planned 18 million-euro Czech state aid for three digital terrestrial television infrastructure operators violates the European Union's state aid rules, according to a Monday release. Following an in-depth probe launched in June 2022, the commission determined that there was no market failure or incentive effect related to the measure, adding that the compensation was not limited to the minimum necessary. The amount was intended to cover costs related to transitional network operations, as the companies were required to release certain frequency bands by June 2020. As such, the commission ruled that Czechia will not pay out the aid to the operators.
