The reporter learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, the country added more than 340,000 square kilometers of soil erosion treatment area, a net reduction of about 116,000 square kilometers, and the soil and water conservation rate reached more than 73%, providing strong support for promoting harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Soil erosion in key regions has been effectively managed. Focusing on the upper and middle reaches of the river, the northeast black soil area, and the southwest karst area, the central investment supports comprehensive management of small watersheds to treat 67,000 square kilometers of soil erosion. The intensity of soil erosion in the project implementation area was reduced by 15 to 20 percentage points, and the quality and stability of the ecosystem was significantly enhanced.
