Italy Closes Probes into Stellantis, Tesla, Volkswagen, BYD Over EV Information

05:40 AM EST, 12/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Italian Competition Authority ended its investigations into four automakers over the information advertised about their electric vehicles, according to a Friday statement. The probe into Stellantis (STLAM.MI, STLAP.PA) unit Stellantis Europe, Tesla's (TL0.F) Tesla Italy, Volkswagen's (VOW3.F, VOW.F) Volkswagen Group Italia, and BYD Industria Italia centers on the "adequacy and transparency" of details regarding EV driving range, battery degradation, and warranty limits. In response, the companies committed to review and redesign their websites to ensure information is "clear and comprehensive" and to introduce an EV range simulator. They were given 120 days to implement all commitments, which were made binding by the regulator. Stellantis, Tesla, Volkswagen, and BYD did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
