Zhitong Finance learned that on December 18, Hang Seng Index announced the launch of the Hang Seng Hong Kong Stock Connect Electronics Industry Theme Index.

The index reflects the performance of Hong Kong-listed companies engaged in the electronics industry. These electronics industries include semiconductors and basic electronic components, telecommunications equipment and parts, information technology equipment and parts, and audio/video equipment and components. The number of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Exchange sample stocks is fixed at 40 representing the top 40 stocks with the largest market capitalization, and the weights are adjusted every quarter.

The purpose of compiling the index is to focus on the electronic sector in the Hong Kong Stock Connect market, capture the stock price performance of enterprises on technology hardware and electronics manufacturing tracks, provide tracking targets for passive investment products such as index funds and ETFs, and provide investors with tools to allocate electronic assets across markets, help investors improve the global layout of the electronics industry, capture unique investment opportunities in the Hong Kong stock electronic sector, and build an investment and analysis tool for mainland investors to focus on more leading electronic sectors.

According to reports, the index's constituent stocks include TCL Electronics, Skyworth Group, Xiaomi-W, SMIC, Lenovo Group, Huahong Semiconductor, BYD Electronics, ZTE, Lenovo Holdings, and Ruisheng Technology.
