The IFRS Foundation announced the renewal of an existing memorandum of understanding with China's Ministry of Finance. According to the renewed memorandum of understanding, the Beijing office under the Foundation will continue to be responsible for the work of the International Sustainability Standards Council, and will support ISSB in carrying out exchanges, cooperation, capacity building, and innovative practices in China and other developing and emerging economies through the Beijing office. This renewal of the memorandum of understanding was completed during a visit to Beijing by IFRS Foundation trustee chairman Erkki Likanin during his visit to Beijing on December 10 and 11. This visit to China is part of Likanen's week-long trip to Asia. In addition to renewing the memorandum of understanding, Mr. Likanin also welcomed the appointment of Ms. Zhang Minwen as Special Adviser to the President of the International Sustainability Standards Council and Director of the Beijing Office of the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation. Ms. Zhang Minwen has extensive experience in international economic, financial and development cooperation. She has represented China's Ministry of Finance on matters related to multilateral mechanisms such as APEC and ASEAN, and has worked for the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank.
