On December 17, local time, the 2nd Future Games opened in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The competition will continue until December 23. More than 850 athletes from 65 countries and regions will compete in 11 events, with a total prize pool of 5 million US dollars. One of the major features of future games is the “virtual and real combination” of traditional sports and their corresponding digital projects. Most of the competition events take the form of a “double competition”. Athletes first use simulators to play virtual or e-sports, then enter a real field to complete physical competition, and are ranked according to overall points. A total of 11 contests were set up this year, and 7 Chinese teams participated in the competition. This year, the AR competition, Electronic Dodgeball, was included in the competition for the first time, and Chinese players will also face off against the world's top teams in it. In 2024, the first Future Games will be held in Kazan, Russia. As an international event held every year, future games are gradually building a new sports ecosystem integrating competition, technology and education, attracting more and more young players and science and technology sports teams to participate.
