The German utility industry association BDEW reported on Wednesday that in 2025, Germany's annual gas consumption was 875 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 3.6% over the previous year; natural gas imports were 772 billion kilowatt-hours, the same as in 2024. After the Russian-Ukrainian conflict broke out, Germany cut off gas pipelines with Russia, which attracted much attention to Germany's energy supply issues. In addition, BDEW also said that in 2025, Germany's electricity generation capacity will be 498.9 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 0.8% over the previous year, of which 58% comes from renewable energy.
