Scientex Packaging 1Q net profit higher at RM9mil

PETALING JAYA: Scientex Packaging (Ayer Keroh) Bhd has posted a higher net profit of RM9.27mil in the first quarter ended ended Oct 31, 2025 compared with RM2.9mil in the year-ago quarter, backed by improved operational efficiency and favourable sales mix.

Additionally, the flexible plastic packaging (FPP) producer registered foreign exchange losses in the comparative quarter compared with the current quarter.

The group posted earnings per share (EPS) of 2.64 sen, over three times the EPS of 0.83 sen in the comparative quarter.

Quarterly revenue was up 3% to RM184.66mil as compared to RM179.29mil the same quarter in 2024.

According to the group, in its results filing with Bursa Malaysia, the market environment remained challenging due to market competition, inflationary pressures and other external factors.

“The group remains committed to prudent cost management and sustaining its competitive edge through key operational improvements, such as maximising machine efficiency, minimising waste, and enhancing workforce productivity.

“It continues to leverage its technical expertise and innovation capabilities to deliver customer-centric packaging solutions, while working closely with customers in achieving their sustainability objectives.”

Scientex Packaging said it remained committed to enhancing its competitiveness and driving sustainable performance in the current financial year.

Meanwhile, the company, in its recently released annual report ,said global market conditions are expected to remain constrained in the near term, as operational pressures experienced throughout financial year 2025 (FY25) continue to shape the evolving business landscape.

“Nonetheless, we remain optimistic on the favourable prospects of the robust FPP market which continues to demonstrate resilience and growth, with the Asia=Pacific market poised to maintain its strong trajectory,” said chairman and executive director Choo Seng Hong.

Choo said the company is positioned to capitalise on the emerging opportunities and sustain growth momentum, underpinned by a strong track record of delivering optimal FPP across a diverse portfolio of products for leading food and beverage and fast moving consumer goods customers.

“Our advanced packaging capabilities, coupled with a customer-centric approach, enable us to develop innovative and sustainable FPP solutions that meet evolving market demands and facilitate the transition towards a circular plastic economy.”

Choo said FY25 unfolded amid a complex and challenging operating environment.

“Global market sentiment remained subdued, weighed down by ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, inflationary pressures and a multitude of external challenges.

“Despite these headwinds, Scientex Packaging demonstrated fortitude and agility in navigating the rapidly evolving business environment, leveraging strong fundamentals to sustain profitability in the financial year.”
