Honda announced on December 16 that it will acquire 21% of Astemo's shares held by Hitachi, making Astemo a consolidated subsidiary of Honda. After the acquisition, Honda held 61% of the shares, Hitachi held 19% of the shares, and JICC held 20% of the shares. The share acquisition is scheduled to be implemented in the first quarter of the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2026. Honda said that as a holding company, it will lead Astemo's development as a global supplier while continuing to advance its initial public offering.
