03:32 AM EST, 12/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy and services company Centrica (CNA.L) sold Spirit Energy's 15% stake in the Cygnus gas field to Serica Energy (SQZ.L) for 98 million pounds sterling. The deal also include the sale of all other producing assets in the North Sea and the Greater Markham Area, according to a Tuesday filing. Centrica, which holds a 69% stake in Spirit Energy, said its share of the headline consideration is expected to be 39 million pounds. The sales are expected to be completed in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Following the transaction, the Morecambe Hub will become Spirit's principal producing asset, and its primary focus will remain on the development of the Morecambe net-zero carbon storage project, along with the safe and efficient decommissioning of its facilities and wells with the lowest environmental impact.
