On December 11, the Brain-Computer Interface Standardization Technical Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Brain-Computer Interface Sub-Technical Committee of the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee held a joint plenary meeting in Hangzhou in 2025. Zhao Chaofan, deputy director of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out in his speech that the “15th Five-Year Plan” plan clearly defines brain-computer interface as one of the six major future industries, marking a new stage of development in the brain-computer interface industry and standardization development. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has thoroughly implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, issued special policies with 6 departments, set up a brain-computer interface standard committee, and carried out preliminary research on more than 20 standards and deployed 49 key tasks to promote the high-quality development of the brain-computer interface industry. In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will insist that “standard-setting leads industrial development, standards implementation promotes industrial governance, internationalization of standards, and the globalization of the service industry”, and work with all parties to develop and expand future industries.
