US President Trump posted on social media on Monday that the late actor and director Rob Reiner had “Trump's insanity syndrome.” Less than a day ago, authorities said the Democratic activist and donor and his wife were found dead at their home in Los Angeles. Trump claims that Rainer, a critic of the president, was “tortured and struggling” during his lifetime, and attributed his death to “the anger he caused others by suffering from a serious, stubborn, and incurable disabling mental illness called 'Trump insanity syndrome'.” Trump wrote on Truth Social: “As we all know, his fanatical obsession with President Donald J. Trump made people freak out, and his apparent paranoia reached new heights as the Trump administration surpassed all great goals and expectations.” When asked later in the Oval Office if he would stick to the position in his post, Trump said, “I'm not his fan at all; he's insane... I think he hurt himself in his career, he became like a deranged person — Trump's insane syndrome — so I'm not a fan of Rob Reyner at all, no matter what. I think he's very harmful to our country.” Trump's response was boycotted by some Truth Social users who responded to Trump's post, calling it callous and urging him to delete it. Some Republicans also criticized Trump for the post.
