Earlier, the European Commission, the European Council, and the European Parliament reached a political agreement on a draft legislation, which plans to gradually ban EU member states from importing Russian gas through pipelines from September 2027. The European Commission also proposed banning imports of Russian crude oil from the end of 2027. The agreement still needs to be formally approved by member states and the European Parliament before it can enter into force.
