03:27 AM EST, 12/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Switzerland's economy is set to grow more than expected in 2026 as reduced US tariffs boosted prospects for affected sectors, according to the Federal Government Expert Group on Business Cycles. The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs said Monday the expert group now expects gross domestic product growth, adjusted for sporting events, to come in at 1.1% in 2026, up from its October forecast of 0.9%. Meanwhile, the 2025 GDP estimate edged up to 1.4% from 1.3%, with the update assuming international levies will remain at current levels and no further escalation of the international trade conflict. As for consumer prices, the inflation estimate for 2025 is unchanged at 0.2%, while the 2026 projection was lowered to 0.2% from 0.5%. The expert group also reduced its unemployment rate outlook to 2.8% from 2.9% in 2025, while cutting the 2026 forecast to 3.1% from 3.2%. In addition, the expert group released its 2027 forecasts, now expecting GDP growth at 1.7%, while estimating inflation and unemployment rates at 0.5% and 2.9%, respectively.
