On the evening of December 14, in response to Guo Moruo's “Shu Daoqi” hand roll auction, Beijing Poly International Auction Co., Ltd. issued a statement saying that the company attached great importance to Ms. Guo Shuying's demands and had always maintained active communication with her. After verification, the client of the work actually held the movable property when applying for auction, and also had a transfer record and purchase agreement for purchasing the work at a reasonable market price. The company's collection and auction process for this lot complied with the provisions of the Auction Law. The statement said, “The client also commissioned Beijing Qiancheng Law Firm to issue a statement on December 14, 2025. In response to the dispute over the ownership of this lot, we are willing to actively cooperate with the investigation and thank all sectors of the community for their attention.” Earlier, Guo Moruo's daughter, Guo Shuying, commissioned a lawyer to issue a statement claiming that the work was a gift from her father's private collection in 1961 and that it has never been transferred or authorized. It has now been lost and alerted to the police, questioning that the auction is not authorized to be disposed of, and requesting Poly to stop the auction and return the work.
