On December 13, Tongji University and the Social Science Literature Press jointly published the “German Blue Book: German Development Report”. According to the report, 2024 is the third year of the “traffic light” coalition government under the leadership of German Chancellor Scholz, in power, and is also the year of its early dissolution. The German economy experienced a second consecutive year of recession, the refugee problem continued to ferment, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict was prolonged, and international conflicts in the Middle East region were frequent, leading to a further strengthening of right-wing populist forces in the European Parliament elections and the German federal state assembly elections. Due to internal and external difficulties, the “traffic light” coalition government eventually disbanded early due to the escalation of infighting between the three ruling parties, and Germany ushered in an early general election. To this end, this report focuses on analyzing the internal affairs and diplomatic measures taken by the German “traffic light” coalition government in the context of a “right turn” in politics, as well as Germany's process of moving towards an early general election.
