Associated Press-NORC Public Affairs Research Center's latest poll shows that for many American consumers, this Christmas holiday is hard to say happy, and many are worried about prices and the economy. The poll was conducted on 1,146 American adults from the 4th to the 8th. The sampling error range was plus or minus 4 percentage points. The survey results showed that the high level of prices made many American households feel pain. 87% of respondents noticed that grocery prices in the past few months were higher than usual. About two-thirds said electricity and holiday gift expenses have increased. About half saw a recent rise in gasoline prices. To cope with rising prices, about half of American consumers seek cheaper products more frequently when shopping, and about four adults rely more on savings than before.
