On December 11, local time, Slovak Prime Minister Fizzo read out his letter to European Council President Costa in parliament. The letter stated that he would not support any military spending funded by Slovakia to aid Ukraine. If other member states decide to make voluntary commitments on their own, he will respect these decisions, but Slovakia will not participate. Fizzo stressed that no matter what kind of pressure he faces, his position will not change. He said that there is no military solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict; he supports a peaceful resolution. The EU's strategy for dealing with this conflict is wrong and ineffective. Fizzo said that if the EU continues to “disrespect sovereignty policies, traditions, and historical roots,” it will definitely “self-destruct.”
