Research firm Jibang has warned that smartphone and laptop manufacturers are facing a squeeze caused by another rise in memory prices. The company anticipates a sharp rise in DRAM costs in early 2026, putting pressure on profit margins and forcing brands to reconsider pricing and product specifications. Not even Apple was spared, the company said. Rising memory costs could drive up the production costs of upcoming iPhones, which could limit the price cuts Apple usually provides for older models. The company added that for economical and mid-range Android brands that use memory as a key selling point, they may have to raise prices and adjust product lifecycles to avoid more serious losses. Laptop manufacturers may be able to stick with it in the short term, but eventually they will need to move to lower specs or higher prices. The company anticipates a repricing phase for laptops by the second quarter of 2026.
