Nils Müller, an economist at Commerzbank Hamburg, said that the Italian service sector gained growth momentum in November, and the service sector PMI climbed from 54.0 to 55.0 in that month, the strongest increase in two and a half years. This growth momentum was supported by a surge in new businesses — driven by successful customer expansion, the growth rate of new business reached its highest level since mid-2024. However, export orders have shrunk again, and some companies have reported continued global headwinds and weak performance in the automotive industry. Strong performance in the service sector boosted overall private sector growth. Italy's composite PMI for November rose to 53.8 from 53.1 in October, the highest level since April 2023.
