Iran's official media said that Ali Shamhani, a senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, is currently alive and being treated for serious injuries at a hospital, despite reports last week that he was shot dead in an Israeli attack. A number of news agencies, including the Fars News Agency controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran and the semi-official Meher News Agency, issued statements supposedly from Shamhani. Last week, these agencies reported that he was killed in Israel's first round of air strikes on June 13. “I'm still alive and ready to sacrifice myself,” Shamhani's statement said. The report said that he was recovering from serious injuries in the Israeli attack and is currently in stable condition.
