China Automobile Dealers Association: National retail sales of new commercial vehicles were 316,000 units in March, up 33.15% month-on-month

The Zhitong Finance App learned that in January-March, the China Automobile Dealers Association published an article stating that in January-March, retail sales of new commercial vehicles were 718,500 units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 5.54%. Of these, sales volume in March was 3161,000 units, down 7.79% year on year and up 33.15% month on month.

In terms of exports, from January to March 2025, commercial vehicle export sales volume was 2352 million units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 22.05%. Among them, export sales volume in March was 94,500 vehicles, up 27.32% year on year and 45.75% month on month.

I. Retail sales volume in March 2025

According to sales data provided by the Commercial Vehicle Professional Committee of the China Automobile Dealers Association, retail sales of commercial vehicles nationwide in March 2025 were 3161,000 units, down 7.79% year on year and up 33.15% month on month.

The top 5 companies accounted for 38.97% of retail sales, followed by Foton Motor, SAIC Wuling, FAW Jiefang, Sinotruk Howo, and Jiangling.

Looking at the different models, the details are as follows:

Trucks: Retail sales in March were 269,300 units, down 8.03% year on year and up 32.12% month on month. TOP5 companies account for 41.12% of retail sales, followed by Foton Motor, SAIC Wuling, FAW Jiefang, Sinotruk Howo, and Great Wall.

Buses: Retail sales in March were 46,700 units, down 6.41% year on year and up 39.39% month on month. The top 5 companies accounted for 51.72% of retail sales, followed by SAIC Wuling, Jiangling, SAIC Chase, Geely Remote, and Foton.

II. Cumulative retail sales volume from January to March 2025

In January-March, the cumulative retail sales volume of commercial vehicles nationwide was 718,500 units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 5.54%.

TOP5 companies account for 39.31% of retail sales, followed by Foton Motor, SAIC Wuling, FAW Jiefang, Sinotruk Howo, and Jiangling.

Trucks: Retail sales in January-March were 613,400 units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 5.8%. The top 5 companies accounted for 41.77% of retail sales, followed by Foton Motor, SAIC Wuling, FAW Jiefang, Sinotruk Howo, and Great Wall.

Buses: Retail sales in January-March were 105,000 units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 4.04%. The top 5 companies account for 50.55% of retail sales, followed by JMC, SAIC Chase, Geely, and Foton.

III. Export sales volume in March 2025

According to sales data provided by the Commercial Vehicle Professional Committee of the China Automobile Dealers Association, in March 2025, the national commercial vehicle export sales volume was 94,500 units, up 27.32% year on year and 45.75% month on month; the export value for the month reached 19.315 billion yuan.

The top 5 export sources are Shandong, Anhui, Beijing, Chongqing, and Henan; the top 5 export markets are Mexico, Vietnam, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Chile.

Looking at the different models, the details are as follows:

Trucks: The export sales volume in March was 85,300 units, up 27.26% year on year, up 47.70% month on month, and the export value reached 15.671 billion yuan.

Buses: The export sales volume in March was 0.92 million units, up 27.87% year on year, up 56.25% month on month, and the export value reached 3.644 billion yuan.

In January-March, the cumulative export sales volume of commercial vehicles nationwide was 2352 million units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 22.05%; the cumulative export value reached 47.630 billion yuan.

Trucks: The export sales volume in January-March was 212,300 units, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 21.72%, and the cumulative export value reached 38.076 billion yuan.

Buses: The export sales volume in January-March was 22,800 vehicles, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 25.21%, and the cumulative export value reached 9.555 billion yuan.
