The Zhitong Finance App learned that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Thursday that Ford Motor Company (F.US) will recall nearly 500,000 cars in the US due to brake fluid leaks. Reports say that a broken brake system hose may cause liquid to leak, thereby extending the braking distance and increasing the risk of collision.

Ford said it hasn't received any reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue. The recall covers the 2015-2018 Ford Edge SUV and the 2016 to 2018 mid-size luxury model Lincoln MKX. NHTSA estimates that approximately 1% of the recalled vehicles had defects.

In addition, according to an announcement from the automobile safety supervisory authority, Ford will also recall more than 213,000 cars due to faulty taillights, and 109,900 cars due to the risk of airbags being torn when deployed.
