The US Food and Drug Administration is warning the public not to eat, sell, or provide certain “Great Value” brand frozen shrimp sold by Walmart because they may be contaminated with caesium-137. The FDA said in a press release that the warning applies to PT Indonesia. Some raw frozen shrimp products processed by Bahari Makmur Sejati and sold at Walmart. According to the press release, cesium-137 was detected in containers found in ports such as Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and Savannah, Georgia. The FDA collected samples for analysis and confirmed that one sample of shrimp products contained the substance.
