AI search upstart Perplexity launches $200/month premium subscription package that allows unlimited access to multiple features

The Zhitong Finance App learned that Perplexity AI, a generative artificial intelligence search startup invested by Nvidia (NVDA.US), announced that it will launch a $200 monthly subscription package for high-end users. In the Perplexity Max subscription plan, users have unlimited access to the “lab” features of its spreadsheets, web apps, and presentation tools. Additionally, users can get early access to its upcoming Comet artificial intelligence web browser, while also being able to use Perplexity services using competitors' latest models, such as OpenAI's o3-pro and Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.

The Perplexity Max app is available on the web, and the company's iOS app is also live. In a blog post, the company said, “Perplexity Max is our most advanced subscription service level, designed for users looking for unlimited artificial intelligence productivity and immediate access to Perplexity's latest products and features. With the Perplexity Max service, you can unleash the full potential of your curiosity.”

The news comes as some of the big tech companies have discussed acquisitions or partnerships with Perplexity AI. Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) is having issues with its artificial intelligence capabilities, and internal discussions have begun on an acquisition or partnership with Perplexity. Meta (META.US) also discussed acquiring Perplexity before acquiring half of Scale AI's shares. In May of this year, Perplexity successfully raised $500 million, and the company's valuation exceeded $14 billion as a result.
