According to tech media TechCrunch, people familiar with the matter said that Meta has hired Trapit Bansal, an influential OpenAI researcher, to join the company's newly established AI superintelligence department to work on AI inference models. The addition of Bansal could be an important boost to Meta's AI super-smart lab. The lab has now brought together a number of industry leaders, including former ScaleAI CEO Alexandr Wang, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, and Safe Superintelligence co-founder Daniel Gross. Notably, Meta has yet to publicly launch any AI inference models in its open source model family, the Llama series. In recent months, Zuckerberg has been intensively recruiting talents through high salaries to form Meta's new AI team. Rumor has it that the salary package provided to top researchers is as high as 100 million US dollars. However, the specific salary benefits of Bansal joining this time have not been disclosed to the outside world.
