The Zhitong Finance App learned that global banking giant UBS Group (UBS.US), headquartered in Switzerland, said on Wednesday that one of its key service providers was attacked by a cyber attack, which led to some data leaks, but UBS emphasized that customer data was not affected.

Swiss media “Le Temps” (Le Temps) reported that some files stored by the commercial information service company Chain IQ were illegally stolen, containing details of the personal information of tens of thousands of UBS employees.

UBS stated in a recently released statement: “A cyber attack on an external information service provider led to the theft of information from UBS and several companies. However, customer data has not been affected in any way.”

UBS added: “Upon learning of this incident, UBS immediately took quick and decisive action to avoid any degree of impact on its business operations.”

Chain IQ said in a statement that the company and 19 other companies were targeted by this cyber attack, and the resulting data breach has been posted on the dark web. The company has immediately taken protective measures and implemented information security measures, and the situation has been brought under control.

For security and investigation reasons, Chain IQ also said it was unable to disclose any potential ransom demands or specific negotiations with the attackers.

“The Times” reports that Switzerland's top private bank Pictet (Pictet) was also affected by this cyber attack. Patek's headquarters in Switzerland did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.
