Jobless Claims Hold Steady At 8-Month High, Economists Blame End Of School Year -- MarketWatch

Initial jobless claims rose held steady at 248,000 in the week ended June 7, the Labor Department said Thursday. That's the highest level since last October.

Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had estimated new claims would fall by 1,000 to 246,000.

The data could be impacted by the end of the school year. In 2024, claims hit their highest level in early June.
