Specifically, they were charged with violating a food sales law and a complaint of violating environmental public health regulations. On July 30 of last year, a group food poisoning incident occurred at ByteDance's Singapore office. A number of employees felt unwell after eating a Chinese buffet lunch in the cafeteria. Many people developed symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort. Some employees vomited at the office, and “even threw up so paralyzed that they couldn't get up to the ground.” The Singapore Civil Defence Force dispatched mass disinfection trucks and used 17 ambulances to take patients to hospital. Afterwards, on the evening of July 31, the Food Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Health issued a statement saying that many people developed symptoms of gastroenteritis after eating Yunhai cuisine and food served in Putian at the cafeteria located on the 26th floor of ByteDance's Singapore office located on the 26th floor of Raffles Wharf.
