Eurozone momentum will continue to expand, and Bulgaria is deemed ready to become the 21st member of the Eurozone. The European Commission proposed on Wednesday that the Black Sea country with a population of 6.4 million should be allowed to officially adopt the euro in 2026. The European Commission and the European Central Bank stated in their respective reports that Bulgaria has met all the requirements for joining the Eurozone on all key issues such as inflation and public debt. “Thanks to the euro, the Bulgarian economy will be stronger, trade with Eurozone partners will be more active, attract more foreign direct investment, access more convenient financing channels, create high-quality jobs and increase real income,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement. “Bulgaria will take its rightful place in shaping the central decisions of the Eurozone.”
