The Zhitong Finance App learned that Uber (UBER.US) has appointed its first chief operating officer in 6 years to help develop Uber's autonomous driving business. At the same time, the company continues to grow in business areas other than taxi services. Andrew Macdonald is currently Uber's senior vice president of mobile business and operations, and he will now assume the role of Chief Operating Officer.

In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Macdonald said, “In my new role, my first priority will be to make the most of the potential of the Uber platform... This is a huge opportunity for future development and our unique competitive advantage, but we are only just beginning to touch this field.”

Meanwhile, Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, head of Uber's delivery department, will leave the company, where he has been working for almost 13 years. As one of Uber's first employees and senior vice president of the delivery business, Gore-Coty has been with the company for 13 years. He is a driving force behind global mobile business expansion, and he took over Uber's takeout business long before the first COVID-19 lockdown.
