The European Union officially lifted all economic sanctions against Syria. The EU Council issued a statement on the same day saying that the Council has passed legal documents to lift all economic sanctions against Syria, leaving only the sanctions imposed for security reasons. As part of the same policy approach, the Council also removed 24 entities from the EU sanctions list for freezing funds and economic resources. These entities include a number of banks, including the Central Bank of Syria, as well as companies that play a key role in the recovery of the Syrian economy, such as companies related to oil production and refining, the cotton industry, and telecommunications industries, as well as media agencies.
