Overall cases receiving comprehensive social security assistance in Hong Kong fell 0.1% month-on-month in March

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on April 22, the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department published the latest number of cases receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA). The total number of CSSA recipients in March decreased by 194 compared to February, a month-on-month decrease of 0.1%. The total number of cases receiving CSSA at the end of March was 195581, and the total number of beneficiaries was 262,266.

In terms of case type analysis, the month-on-month decrease of cases in the poor health category was 0.3%, with 27,689 cases. Permanent disability cases and single parent cases both decreased by 0.2%, to 16,667 cases and 18993 cases respectively. Elderly cases and unemployment cases both decreased by 0.1%, to 110,846 cases and 16057 cases respectively. Low-income cases increased by 0.1% to 1,356.
