The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the 8th foreign minister meeting within the framework of the “Central Asia+Russia” meeting mechanism was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Russian foreign minister had in-depth exchanges with the foreign ministers of the five Central Asian countries on topics such as deepening regional cooperation and maintaining common security. The conference discussed the prospects for establishing six-party partnerships in the fields of economy and trade, industry, green economy, water resources protection, and transportation and logistics connectivity. In response to threats such as terrorism, extremism, and drug smuggling facing the region, the six countries agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing and joint security cooperation. The Russian side also gave detailed explanations to the participants on the newly introduced immigration regulations. Furthermore, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov briefed on the latest developments in the situation in Ukraine and the Russian-US negotiations at the meeting.
