USA Looking to Offload Atlanta Federal Building

The U.S. General Services Administration has listed the Peachtree Summit federal building as a candidate for “accelerated disposition.” The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that the 800,000-square-foot tower is more than 30% vacant. Its tenants include the GSA, the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Eight buildings across the country are on a list with the accelerated disposition classification, including the Peachtree Summit federal building in Atlanta. The tower sits in northern Downtown, near the Downtown Connector and Civic Center MARTA station. The building was already targeted for “disposition” prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

GSA says its process doesn’t necessarily mean it would relocate government workers. It could dispose of an asset and then lease the space back.

The GSA says it is now accelerating the process for certain properties. It invites interested parties to submit “non-binding” term sheets.
