If Varroc Engineering was sitting on your watchlist instead of in your portfolio, the recent move may feel like a missed call. Investors who held Varroc Engineering from the start of the year are up 26.4%, including dividends. That outcome now sits alongside fresh Q1 2027 numbers and a new joint venture on EV batteries. The real question is whether earlier assumptions about EV components and urbanization gave enough clues that Varroc’s older ICE tilt might be less of a drag than it looked.
A Narrative on Simply Wall St is one investor's written case for a company, with its growth, margin and multiple assumptions spelled out. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.

The shares cost ₹607 at the start of the period. Anyone looking at Varroc Engineering then had to decide whether the price already captured the EV and urbanization story or was still underplaying it.
The bullish Narrative put Fair Value at ₹760. That view leaned on rising EV content, stronger lighting and electronics exposure, and an expectation that overseas orders in electronics, lighting, and inverters would eventually lift EBITDA margins and improve ROCE.
The bearish Narrative marked Fair Value at ₹480. That camp focused on heavy exposure to internal combustion engine components and the risk that faster EV adoption would erode demand for those segments and weaken pricing power over time.
The joint venture with Forsee Power gave Varroc Engineering clearer exposure to EV batteries, which supported the view that higher EV content could matter more over time. At the same time, Q1 2027 revenue reached ₹26,342.37m versus ₹20,275.51m a year earlier, while net income eased and net margin slipped from 5.2% to 2.9%. Together, that mix had mixed implications for the original thesis.
The useful takeaway is simple. When a business case depends on margin expansion, track net income and net margin alongside new EV announcements rather than assuming fresh contracts will automatically improve profitability.
Varroc Engineering now trades at ₹766, up 26.4% from the start of the year, while the selected cautious Narrative places its Fair Value below that market level.
The Narrative focuses on whether EV and electronics momentum can offset questions around overseas profitability and governance. A buyer today has to judge that overseas electronics and lighting operations can reach breakeven on time without extra pressure on cash and margins.
"Ongoing plans to ramp overseas electronics and lighting capacity using elevated FY27 capex toward revenue potential of ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 crore rely on loss making Romanian and Italian operations reaching EBITDA breakeven, and any delay in this turnaround would keep overseas drag on group profitability and PBT margins higher for longer than currently assumed."
