SoFi Technologies (SOFI) shares have been a major disappointment for investors in 2026, but the derivatives market believes they’re poised for some near-term recovery after earnings on Oct. 27. Consensus is for SOFI to record $0.17 in earnings per share (EPS) for its fiscal third quarter, which would represent about 54.55% growth on a year-over-year basis.
Heading into the quarterly print, SOFI stock is trading at about half its price in early January.
Data from Barchart suggests options traders expect SOFI’s upcoming earnings event to prove the catalyst it so desperately needs to regain momentum.
The put-to-call ratio on contracts expiring Oct. 30 sits at 0.50x currently, indicating a strong bullish skew (a ratio below 1.00x is typically interpreted as in favor of the bulls). And the upper price on those options contracts sits at $15.66 as of writing, signaling potential for a nearly 8% rally in SOFI shares through the end of this week.
Note that SoFi Technologies is currently trading at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of about 24x, which makes it significantly cheaper to own than its fintech peers, including Robinhood (HOOD) at 44x.
Monness analysts also recommend owning SOFI stock ahead of the company’s fiscal Q3 results. They assumed coverage of the fintech firm this morning with a “Buy” rating, saying product growth could drive its share price up to $20 in the months ahead. That implies potential upside of roughly 40% from current levels.
Monness highlighted deeper engagement among existing customers, noting they made up 51% of new products opened, compared with 35% a year earlier.
Total product count rose 42% to 24.4 million in Q2, suggesting SoFi’s growth increasingly reflects members using more services, rather than simply an expanding customer base, the investment firm added.
Monness is not alone among Wall Street firms recommending owning SOFI shares heading into 2027.
The consensus rating on SoFi Technologies sits at “Moderate Buy,” with the mean price target of about $20.18 signaling meaningful upside potential moving forward.
