The city invested a total of 369.61 billion yuan in research and experimental development, an increase of 41.77 billion yuan over the previous year, an increase of 12.7%; the investment intensity of research and experimental development was 7.10%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the previous year. By type of activity, the city spent 61.57 billion yuan on basic research, an increase of 22.4% over the previous year; 89.85 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6%; and spent 218.18 billion yuan on experimental development, an increase of 14.3%. The share of basic research funding was 16.7%, an increase of 1.3 percentage points over the previous year; the share of funding for applied research and experimental development was 24.3% and 59.0%, respectively. By activity group, various enterprises spent 174.28 billion yuan on research and experimental development, an increase of 11.8% over the previous year; government research institutions spent 142.49 billion yuan, an increase of 16.9%; colleges and universities spent 44.26 billion yuan, an increase of 7.8%; and other entities spent 8.57 billion yuan. Enterprises, government research institutes, and universities accounted for 47.2%, 38.6%, and 12.0% of funding, respectively.
