02:53 AM EDT, 10/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Berenberg believes Zurich Insurance Group's (ZURN.SW) acquisition of British insurer Beazley offers "attractive" synergies and operational benefits. "Zurich's USD10.9bn acquisition of Beazley, which closed on 3 October, delivers three key benefits for the group, in our view. Firstly, the acquisition dilutes Zurich's reliance on US commercial lines, which include the very price-sensitive large commercial risks, from 48% of commercial gross written premiums to 41%. Secondly, it increases the proportion of speciality lines, a very diverse book of business where pricing cycles are not all aligned, from 30% to 40% of commercial gross written premiums. Thirdly, it creates a clear hub for Zurich in London, based around the Lloyd's insurance market, a market which benefits from close relations with brokers and offers an extra exposure to speciality lines," according to a Tuesday note focused on Berenberg's preferred investment opportunities across the Swiss equity market. Analysts also noted the Swiss insurer's expectations of $1 billion in capital extraction from Beazley, $150 million in cost synergies by 2029, and at least $1 billion in extra annual revenue growth in the midterm. "We estimate that these extra revenues will earn the same 96% combined ratio that we estimate Beazley earns on a Zurich accounting basis, adding an additional cUSD120m to Zurich's 2030 business operating profit," the research firm wrote. Against this backdrop, Berenberg maintained its buy rating and price target of 902 francs on the stock.
