On October 16, at COSCO SHIPPING Offshore Terminal in Qidong, Jiangsu, the N1166 Haiya Ship completed assembly and entered the final commissioning stage. Using the first domestic feedback smart microgrid system, the project team completed the critical load test of the ship's generator set and achieved a new breakthrough in the field of marine ship generator testing. Qidong is an offshore equipment manufacturing base, gathering dozens of key enterprises. The shipbuilding and offshore industry's regulated output value reached 48 billion yuan last year. According to the relevant person in charge of Qidong COSCO Shipping Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd., ship generator load testing is a key process before ship delivery, and requires simulating generator performance under operating conditions such as overload and sudden unloading. “Traditional tests use dry resistance load boxes for a long time. The test energy is converted into heat loss. A single test consumes hundreds of tons of diesel, with high energy consumption and high carbon emissions.” The person in charge said that what is more critical is that power fluctuates drastically during generator tests. If directly fed back to the power grid, it can easily impact electrical equipment, and also cause problems that are difficult to access due to unstable frequency and voltage. “This is a technical bottleneck that has limited the green transformation in this field for a long time.”
