Equinor, TotalEnergies Make Oil, Gas Discovery in North Sea

03:18 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Equinor (EQNR.OL) and its partners Petoro and TotalEnergies (TTE.PA, TTE.L) made an oil and gas discovery in exploration well 30/8-7 S Grimsnes near the Oseberg field in the North Sea. The Norwegian energy company said Wednesday the preliminary volume estimate is 19 to 50 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent. The well was drilled in license PL 190. Equinor operates the license with a 50% interest, while Petoro holds 40% and TotalEnergies 10%. The partners plan a fast and cost-effective development, tying the discovery back to existing subsea facilities and producing it through the Oseberg Sør platform. Equinor said they expect to make an investment decision on the Grimsnes development as early as next summer, with production within three years.
