Wall Street's two major investment banks, J.P. Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs, have taken “rare measures to limit their exposure” in a $5 billion AI loan program for Volta Infrastructure Holdings, an emerging cloud service provider founded this year. They underwrote only $1.3 billion term loans, and the $3.7 billion chip loan was not underwritten at all to prevent potential risks. The overall loan package sale interest rate was about 11%, one of the highest borrowing costs in the AI financing leveraged loan market. The sale includes 36,000 Nvidia chips and a Norwegian rental license.
