Teva Pharmaceutical (TEVA) shares remain in focus after the company secured U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for Weltruza as a treatment for schizophrenia in adults. Teva expects availability in the coming weeks, with no loading doses, supplemental oral treatment, or post-injection monitoring required.
Including the post-announcement rally, TEVA stock is up about 30% versus the start of this year.
Weltruza is the first approved once-monthly subcutaneous formulation of olanzapine for adults with schizophrenia. A Phase 3 trial supported its approval and demonstrated improvements in symptoms, illness severity, and personal and social functioning. TEVA says its systemic safety profile was consistent with oral olanzapine.
The commercial opportunity centers on making an established treatment much easier to administer consistently. Monthly dosing could appeal to patients who struggle with daily medication, while eliminating required post-injection observation removes a practical barrier for providers.
For investors, approval opens another potential sales stream within the firm's growing neuroscience franchise. As these conveniences translate into prescriptions, insurance coverage, and sustained sales, TEVA shares could rally further from current levels.
Beyond Weltruza, Teva Pharmaceutical’s existing portfolio of innovative medicines offers tangible support for its broader growth strategy.
In fiscal Q2, the company’s AUSTEDO, AJOVY, and UZEDY brands generated more than $1 billion in combined revenue, growing 43% year-on-year in local currency. Management raised its 2026 revenue guidance as well for all three, targeting approximately $3.7 billion collectively.
That momentum supports the investment case as TEVA expands its branded portfolio, especially since it’s targeting about $700 million in net savings and a 30% non-GAAP operating income margin by 2027.
Note that Barchart’s “100% BUY” average opinion on Teva Pharmaceutical also suggests it has technical momentum in its favor heading into 2027.
Wall Street analysts remain fully convinced that TEVA stock’s rally is not out of steam just yet.
According to Barchart, the consensus rating on Teva Pharmaceutical sits at “Strong Buy” currently, with the mean price target of about $45.31 indicating potential for another 10% rally from here.
