The Zhitong Finance App learned that, according to people familiar with the matter, Amazon (AMZN.US) is in negotiations to acquire artificial intelligence startup Decart AI, and the transaction may be valued at around 7 billion US dollars, the Wall Street Journal reports.
People familiar with the matter said that if negotiations don't break down, the acquisition may soon be completed.
According to PitchBook data, Decart has raised more than 400 million US dollars in venture capital from investors such as Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures, and its valuation in May was close to 4 billion US dollars.
In September of this year, Anthropic decided not to buy Decart AI. The developer of the Claude chatbot had previously negotiated the acquisition of Decart for around $6 billion and has completed due diligence on the target company.
Decart was founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers, brothers Dean Reitersdorf and Orion Reitersdorf, and Moses Shalev.
