The Washington-based International Monetary Fund said in a statement that an IMF working group will visit the Republic of the Congo from September 24 to October 7 to discuss relevant policies that can be supported through new arrangements under the extended credit facility, and to conduct 2026 Article IV negotiations. Discussions included the macroeconomic outlook, 2026 fiscal implementation, the 2027 draft budget, and supporting public finance management reforms; at the same time, domestic arrears settlement plans and related measures to enhance public debt sustainability were also discussed. The International Monetary Fund working group and the Congolese authorities will continue discussions in the coming weeks with a view to reaching an employee-level agreement.
